Ceviche de Conchas Negras (Raw Black Shellfish)

Ceviche de Conchas Negras is rumored to be an intense aphrodisiac from the mangroves in the north of Peru. The shells contain ink that's not unlike a squid, which also lends to its name (negra means black). It's of the upmost importance to eat Ceviche de Conchas Negras live, or illness may occur.

This meal was once very popular in Lima, and it was possible to find street vendors selling them live on the street, opening the shells in front of the purchaser.

Leche de Pantera (Milk of the Pather)
Milk of the Pather is the juice that accompanies Ceviche de Conchas Negras, found at the bottom of the container. It can be ordered at some restaurants, and is presented in a normal drinking glass (often with little bits of ceviche in it).
