I live in Rio and yesterday I was with some friends visiting and we went to see the Christo statue at Corcovado. When we left I took a taxi at the stand next to the train station thinking it would be safer since the stand taxis normally are. I asked to go to Ipanema and the driver turned to go via the Centro which is 5 times longer when the Rebou├žas tunnel is right next to the stand taking us immediately to Lagoa. I objected and he acted like it was just my preference. If you leave Corcovado going to Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Jardim Botanico, Gavea, Barra make the taxi driver go via Rebou├žas tunnel.
